INDIANAPOLIS (March 27, 2024) – Cleveland State’s Lincoln Battle and Oihane Vicario earned this week’s Under Armour #HLTennis Singles Players of the Week awards while Belmont’s Ruben Busch and Niklas von Hellens and Cleveland State’s Sima Heren and Oihane Vicario collected Under Armour #HLTennis Doubles Teams of the Week honors.
MEN’S SINGLES PLAYER OF THE WEEK | LINCOLN BATTLE | CLEVELAND STATE | FRESHMAN | RALEIGH, N.C.
- Went 2-0 at No. 1 singles helping the Vikings to a 2-0 start to #HLTennis play with wins over Youngstown State and Chicago State.
- Earned a 7-5, 6-1 victory at YSU, before posting a 6-4, 7-6(4) win against Chicago State.
- Now has a 13-7 overall record this year, including an 11-5 mark this spring.
WOMEN’S SINGLES PLAYER OF THE WEEK | OIHANE VICARIO | CLEVELAND STATE | JUNIOR | OION/ALAVA, SPAIN
- Went 2-0 at No. 1 singles, helping the Vikings to a pair of 7-0 sweeps over Duquesne and Niagara.
- Notched straight-set wins against both opponents, 7-5, 6-1 (Duquesne) and 7-5, 7-6(5) (Niagara).
- Now has a team-best 18-9 singles record on the year, including a 10-6 mark this spring - with all 16 matches during dual match play coming at the top of the lineup.
MEN’S DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK | RUBEN BUSCH AND NIKLAS VON HELLENS | BELMONT
- Teamed up at the top doubles spot and dismantled Southern Indiana’s Mathys Bove and Axel Sabourin without giving up a single game (6-0).
- Helped lead defending Horizon League champion Belmont to a dominant 7-0 road sweep of the Screaming Eagles this past Saturday in the Bruins’ first match in over two weeks.
WOMEN’S DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK | SIMA HEREN AND OIHANE VICARIO | CLEVELAND STATE
- The duo went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles to help the Vikings capture the early 1-0 lead in both matches this weekend.
- Playing as a tandem for the first time this year, Vicario and Heren earned matching 6-2 wins against Duquesne and Niagara.
