INDIANAPOLIS (March 5, 2024) – The 2024 Barbasol Horizon League Women’s Basketball Championship commenced on Tuesday with Detroit Mercy, Northern Kentucky and Youngstown State picking up victories in the opening round to advance to Thursday’s quarterfinals.

  • No. 6 seed Detroit Mercy defeated No. 11 seed RMU, 59-48, at Calihan Hall.
    • The Titans shot 52 percent from the floor in the win with 42 points in the paint.
    • Irene Murua led Detroit Mercy with 12 points.
    • Danielle Vuletich and Simone Morris scored 15 points each for the Colonials.
    • The Titans will travel to Purdue Fort Wayne for the quarterfinals on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.

    • Jazmyn Turner led the Jags with 17 points and nine rebounds.
    • Youngstown State will head to Green Bay for a quarterfinal matchup at 6:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. CT on Thursday.
  • No. 9 seed Northern Kentucky outlasted No. 8 seed Oakland, 80-62, on the road.
    • Freshman of the Year Carter McCray was dominant for the Norse with 24 points and 19 rebounds.
    • Kailee Davis added 17 points, Khamari Mitchell-Steen chipped in 12 points and NKU was 17-21 from the free throw line in the win.
    • Maddy Skorupski scored 22 points for the Golden Grizzlies.
    • The Norse will take on top-seeded Cleveland State at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
  • No. 4 seed Wright State will host No. 5 seed Milwaukee (10-10 HL) on Thursday in the fourth #HLWBB quarterfinal.
  • Every game of the championship will be carried on ESPN networks with the first three rounds of the Barbasol Horizon League Women’s Basketball Championship streamed on ESPN+ and the championship game broadcast on ESPNU.
