INDIANAPOLIS (April 24, 2024) – Belmont’s Tomas Luis and Chicago State’s Katarina Dukic earned this week’s Under Armour #HLTennis Singles Players of the Week awards while Cleveland State’s Juan De Dios Abboud and Carl Gedlitschka and Sima Heren and Oihane Vicario collected Under Armour #HLTennis Doubles Teams of the Week honors.

MEN’S SINGLES PLAYER OF THE WEEK | TOMAS LUIS | BELMONT | SENIOR | TAVIRA, PORTUGAL
  • Gave up only one game in a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win over Tennessee Tech’s Murilo Burckhardt Saturday at No. 2 singles.
  • Helped lead Belmont to a 4-3 win over the Golden Eagles on senior day, securing the Bruins’ second consecutive Horizon League South Division championship and third-straight conference regular season title.
  • With his win, Luis became Belmont’s all-time winningest singles player.
  • Luis surpassed Marko Ilic (2018-21, 2022-23) to set the program’s career singles win record at 74.

  • Katarina went 2-0 at No. 2 singles in Chicago State’s two wins over the weekend with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at IUPUI and a 5-7, 6-2, 11-9 at Northern Kentucky
  • Dukic finished the regular season with a 4-2 conference record and is 7-3 in her last 10 matches
  • She now ranks third at Chicago State in career singles victories with 58

MEN’S DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK | JUANDEDIOS ABBOUD AND CARL GEDLITSCHKA | CLEVELAND STATE
  • The duo posted a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles against YSU, helping the Vikings pick up the doubles point on the match.
  • Cleveland State finished regular season play having picked up the doubles point during all eight #HLTennis matches.
    • The duo is now 18-10 on the year, with the 18 wins tied for ninth in the CSU Single-Season Record Book.

  • The duo posted a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles against Oakland, helping the Vikings pick up the early advantage.
