Horizon League Reveals 2024 Outdoor #HLTF Alfreeda Goff Athletes of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS (May 2, 2024) – The Horizon League announced our 2024 Outdoor #HLTF Alfreeda Goff Athletes of the Year on Thursday. The awards were voted on by the League’s head coaches.
Milwaukee’s Golden Cotton and Purdue Fort Wayne’s Aaron Martin were awarded the Horizon League Alfreeda Goff Outdoor Track and Field Men’s Athlete of the Year awards and Milwaukee’s Natalie Block was selected as the Alfreeda Goff Outdoor Track and Field Women’s Athlete of the Year.

- A senior from Milwaukee, Cotton currently leads the Horizon League in the 100m dash and 200m dash. His time of 10.28 in the 100m dash is a Panthers program record and is tied for 36th in the NCAA West. He is also the defending Horizon League champion in both the 100m dash and 200m dash events.
- Martin has been the League leader in the javelin all season. His mark of 66.03m in the final competition of the regular season earned a new school record and put him nearly three meters ahead of the closest competitor. Martin is the first Mastodon in program history, men or women, to win the award.
- A three-time Athlete of the Week recipient, Block has led the Horizon League leaderboard and ranked among the best nationally in two hurdle events all season. Both her times in the 100m hurdles (13.14) and 400m hurdles (57.68) are Milwaukee program records. Her 400m hurdles time also meet the minimum qualifications for the U.S. Olympic Trials.
- For 16 years, Alfreeda Goff was a member of the Horizon League team serving as Senior Associate Commissioner before retiring in 2015. She worked tirelessly to enhance the student-athlete championship experience, including track & field athletes. Prior to entering athletic administration, Alfreeda was the track and field coach at the University of Pittsburgh.
