Northern Kentucky Earns First #HLBASE Title

DAYTON, OHIO (May 25, 2024) – Northern Kentucky collected its first #HLBASE championship with a
23-5 victory over Youngstown State on Saturday.

- Trailing 2-1 in the fourth, the Norse offense exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the frame and added six runs in the fifth inning and eight more in the seventh.
- Championship MVP Treyvin Moss totaled five RBIs for NKU with three hits and three runs.
- Clay Brock earned the victory on the mound with four earned runs in 7.2 innings and eight strikeouts.
- Norse outfielders Tyler Shaneyfelt and Logen Devenport combined for seven more RBIs on four hits.
- Brennan Rowe, Cleary Simpson and Liam McFadden-Ackman also drove in multiple runs for NKU.
- Matt Thompson totaled three hits for the Penguins while Ian Francis and RJ Sherwood added home runs.
- Northern Kentucky punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
- The Norse will learn their NCAA matchup during the Selection Show, scheduled for Monday, May 27 at noon ET on ESPN2.
