Milwaukee Women and Youngstown State Men Win 2024 Outdoor #HLTF Championships

ROCHESTER HILLS, MICH. (May 5, 2024) – At the end of the third and final day of the 2024 Outdoor #HLTF Championships, the Milwaukee women and the Youngstown State men earned their respective championship trophies. The Panthers, with a score of 193.5, win their first outdoor title since 2011. For the fifth-consecutive time, the Penguins win the outdoor crown, this time with a score of 294.

  • Day three started off in the field with the hammer throw, where the women’s champion, Ali Sparks of Purdue Fort Wayne, recorded a throw of 52.31m. Youngstown State’s Ryan Henry earned first place honors with a winning throw of 54.71m.
  • Next was the triple jump, where Youngstown State’s Jakari Lomax won his fourth-consecutive men’s title with a jump of 15.67m. Fellow Penguin Esther Solarin earned the women’s title with a winning jump of 12.87m, which set a new championship record.

  • In the high jump, Wright State’s Cierra Lively won the women’s high jump with a height of 1.69m. The men’s high jump went to Mason Stephens of Youngstown State with a winning height of 2.07m.

  • In the first running event of the day, the 4x100m relay, Milwaukee took the crown with a time of 41.18. Northern Kentucky earned first place on the women’s side by clocking at 46.46.

  • Next, the men’s 1500m run was claimed by Yami Albrecht of Oakland with a time of 3:49.15. The women’s 1500m champion was Milwaukee’s Anelise Egge, coming in first at 4:35.23.

  • Youngstown State’s Luke Laubacher won his third-consecutive men’s 110m hurdles title, breaking a championship record in the process with a time of 13.69. Natalie Block of Milwaukee broke a championship record as well, finishing first in the women’s 100m hurdles in 13.27.

  • In an exciting finish for the men’s 400m dash, Caleb Henry of Milwaukee emerged victorious with a time of 46.92. RMU’s Elicia Moore won the women’s 400m dash by crossing the line in 55.59.

  • Moving to the 100m dash, winning his second-straight men’s 100m dash was Golden Cotton of Milwaukee with a time of 10.37. Youngstown State’s Nia Grose placed first in the women’s 100m dash by turning in a time of 11.72.

  • The 800m run saw two Oakland Golden Grizzlies take home titles. William Harrell III of Oakland wins his third men’s title with a time of 1:52.55 while Abby Jackson claimed the women’s title with a time of 2:10.44.

  • Harry Barton of Youngstown State pulled away at the end in the men’s 400m hurdles to earn first place with a time of 53.17. Milwaukee’s Natalie Block set another record, winning the women’s 400m hurdles with a championship-best 57.51.

  • The 200m dash ended with Golden Cotton of Milwaukee winning the men’s race for the third-straight year, crossing the line in 21.41. Northern Kentucky’s Erin Starks placed first in the women’s race by finishing in 24.14.

  • Natnael Weldemichael of Northern Kentucky set a new championship record and took the top spot in the men’s 5000m run by clocking in at 14:18.43. Oakland’s Erin Hegarty won the women’s 5000m with a time of 16:52.05.

  • In the final event of the meet, the 4x400m relays, Milwaukee won the men’s race with a time of 3:13.34 while RMU earned first for the women with a time of 3:49.83.
