INDIANAPOLIS (January 28, 2025) – Cleveland State extended its winning streak to 12 games ahead of its matchup at Purdue Fort Wayne on ESPNU on Thursday while Milwaukee and RMU also posted 2-0 records in #HLMBB play this week.

  • The Cleveland State-Purdue Fort Wayne men’s basketball game scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 30 has been selected to be televised on ESPNU. Game time is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum and marks the first regular season ESPN linear broadcast of the season.
  • Senior guard Tevin Smith averaged 19.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in helping Cleveland State to a 2-0 week with two home victories, shooting 54 percent from the field, adding 3.5 assists, 2.0 blocks and 2.5 steals to his stat line.
  • Cleveland State paces the League in scoring defense (64.8 points per game), scoring margin (9.7) and steals per game (9.45).
  • In addition to 14.0 points per game from Tevin Smith, Tahj Staveskie (11.6 points per game) and Dylan Arnett (10.7 points per game) also average in double figures for the Vikings.
  • Two-time Under Armour #HLMBB Player of the Week Jalen Jackson was recently named the recipient of the Mid-Season Lou Henson Award, presented by collegeInsider.com. The award is presented annually to the top player in mid-major college basketball.
    • Jackson leads the League in scoring with 20.4 points per game.
  • Purdue Fort Wayne leads #HLMBB in scoring offense (84.1 points per game), team field goal percentage (48.4), team three-point field goal percentage (39.6), turnover margin (6.09), assist/turnover ratio (1.64) and assists per game (14.91).
  • Rasheed Bello averages 14.4 points, 4.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game for the Mastodons while Corey Hadnot II adds 10.6 points per game.
  • Erik Pratt helped lead the Panthers to a 2-0 week, going unbeaten on the WSU/NKU road trip for the first time since the Norse joined the Horizon League. He averaged 17.5 points per game, shooting 63.2 percent from the floor and 72.7 percent from three-point range.
  • Alvaro Folgueiras averaged 14.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists while shooting 62.5 percent from the field including 71.4 percent from 3-point range to lead RMU to a 2-0 week.
  • Oakland’s Buru Naivalurua finished the week with 22.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, setting a career-high in points (23) off 7-of-16 shooting, with eight rebounds on the road at RMU.
  • Paul Zilinskas led IU Indy with 22.0 points per game this week, including 21 points in the win at Green Bay.
  • Brandon Noel tallied his fifth double-double of the season on Saturday afternoon and finished the week just shy of averaging a double-double overall as he tallied 16.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.
  • The Horizon League recently announced that the fifth edition of the Coach John McLendon Celebration will take place Sunday, February 16 through Saturday, February 22. The initiative, which highlights the major impact of Coach McLendon, will be held in conjunction with the men’s basketball national linear television broadcasts on February 16 and 21, with additional coverage on all of the League’s ESPN+ broadcasts during that timeframe.
  • The 2025 Barbasol Horizon League Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships are scheduled to culminate at the Corteva Coliseum in Indianapolis March 10-11 with the mantra #MarchStartsHere following on-campus action on March 4 and 6.
