Horizon League Reveals 2025 #HLWSOC Awards

INDIANAPOLIS (October 31, 2025) – The Horizon League announced our 2025 #HLWSOC awards on Friday. All-League awards were voted on by the League’s head coaches.
 
Milwaukee midfielder Mallory McGuire was named the Horizon League Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year while teammate Isabella Hollenbach collected Goalkeeper of the Year and fellow Panther Ellie Rebmann earned Defensive Player of the Year. Youngstown State’s Kamryn Rosa was voted Freshman of the Year and IU Indy’s Emma Frey won the League’s Sportsmanship Award. Milwaukee’s Kevin Boyd was tabbed Coach of the Year.

  • McGuire totaled 17 points in #HLWSOC play with six goals and five assists, leading the Panthers to another regular season crown.
  • Hollenbach allowed just seven goals in League play with five shutouts, 37 saves and a .841 save percentage.
  • Rebmann anchored a MKE defense that allowed seven goals in 10 League matches, adding one goal and four assists.
  • Rosa scored six goals for the Penguins in her first season at Youngstown State and she is the first YSU player to win Freshman of the Year honors.
  • The Sportsmanship Award recognizes student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Sportsmanship is defined as behavior exhibited during competition by student-athletes based on values, respect and integrity.
    • Frey was named IU Indy's Michael A. Carroll Scholarship Award winner prior to this season for her work in competition, in the classroom and in the community, has only received one yellow card in her career and serves as team co-captain as a leader on and off the field.
  • Boyd picked up his first #HLWSOC Coach of the Year award after guiding the Panthers to an 8-0-2 League record.
  • Milwaukee paced the League with five All-League First Team selections.
  • Northern Kentucky posted three student-athletes each on the All-League First Team.
  • The Horizon League Women’s Soccer Championship kicks off on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. ET with two quarterfinal contests.
    • No. 3 seed Youngstown State hosts No. 6 seed Oakland while No. 4 seed Wright State will welcome No. 5 seed Green Bay.
  • On Thursday, Nov. 6, the championship will move to Engelmann Stadium on the campus of Milwaukee.
    • The first semifinal will see No. 1 seed Milwaukee square off against the worst remaining seed at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT with No. 2 seed Northern Kentucky taking on the best remaining seed at 5 p.m. ET/4 p.m. CT.
    • The championship is set for 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 8.
  • Every match of the 2025 Horizon League Women’s Soccer Championship will be streamed live on ESPN+ and fans can also follow all the action on social media by following @HorizonLeague and the hashtags #HLWSOC and #OurHorizon.
