Horizon League Unveils 2024-25 #HLMBB All-League Awards

INDIANAPOLIS (March 3, 2025) – The Horizon League revealed our 2024-25 #HLMBB awards on Monday. All awards were voted on by the League’s head coaches.
RMU’s Alvaro Folgueiras was named Player of the Year while teammate Amarion Dickerson collected Defensive Player of the Year honors and Andy Toole earned Coach of the Year for the Colonials. Cleveland State picked up two specialty awards in Freshman of the Year Je’Shawn Stevenson and Sixth Man of the Year Chase Robinson. Milwaukee’s Jamichael Stillwell is the Newcomer of the Year and Purdue Fort Wayne’s Jalen Jackson is our Sportsmanship Award recipient.

- Folgueiras averaged 15.3 points and 8.6 rebounds in #HLMBB play, leading the Colonials to their first regular season title.
- Folgueiras is the first RMU student-athlete to earn Player of the Year honors.
- Toole picked up Coach of the Year recognition after leading the Colonials to the regular season crown with a 15-5 #HLMBB record.
- In his first season in Milwaukee, Stillwell totaled 12.9 points and 10.7 rebounds per game in League contests.
- Stevenson recorded 9.7 points per #HLMBB game in his rookie season for the Vikings, earning six Under Armour #HLMBB Freshman of the Week awards.
- Dickerson 2.4 blocks and 1.1 steals per game in #HLMB action, adding 6.3 rebounds for the Colonials.
- Robinson scored 10.4 points per League game for CSU, starting in just one #HLMBB contest.
- The Sportsmanship Award recognizes student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Sportsmanship is defined as behavior exhibited during competition by student-athletes based on values, respect and integrity.
- In addition to his All-League First Team performance on the court, Jackson logged 400 hours of community service program in the offseason as a team leader for the Mastodons and is a member of this season’s Valeo All-Academic Team.
- Cleveland State and RMU each totaled three All-League selections while the Vikings are represented by two All-Defensive Team members.
- The 2025 Barbasol #HLMBB Championship begins with first round action on Tuesday, March 4.
- No. 6 seed Oakland will host No. 11 seed Green Bay at 7 p.m. ET.
- No. 7 seed Northern Kentucky will face No. 10 seed Detroit Mercy at 7 p.m. ET.
- No. 8 seed Wright State will battle No. 9 seed IU Indianapolis at 8 p.m. ET.
- The quarterfinals will take place on Thursday, March 6.
- No. 1 seed RMU will face the lowest-remaining seed at 8 p.m. ET.
- No. 2 seed Cleveland State will play the second lowest-remaining seed at 8 p.m. ET.
- No. 3 seed Milwaukee will take on the highest-remaining seed at 8 p.m. ET.
- No. 4 seed Youngstown State will battle No. 5 seed Purdue Fort Wayne at 7 p.m. ET.
- Every game of the championship will be carried on ESPN networks with the first round and quarterfinal games streamed on ESPN+. The first semifinal game in Indianapolis will be on ESPNU at 7 p.m. ET on March 10 followed by the second semifinal on ESPN2 at 9:30 p.m. ET. The championship game will air on either ESPN or ESPN2 at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 11.
