INDIANAPOLIS (May 20, 2025) – The Horizon League released our 2025 #HLBASE All-League awards on Tuesday, voted on by the League’s head coaches.
Youngstown State’s Kyle Fossum earned Player of the Year honors while Milwaukee’s Gavin Theis and Logan Snow won the Pitcher and Reliever of the Year awards, respectively. Hunter Warren of Wright State was selected as the Freshman of the Year and Raiders head coach Alex Sogard was voted Coach of the Year. Purdue Fort Wayne’s Brooks Sailors was named the Sportsmanship Award winner.
Dig Deeper:
- Fossum is the first Penguin since 2010 to win the Player of the Year award.
- The senior outfielder tied the League’s single-season home run record (22), becoming just the third student-athlete to accomplish the feat.
- Theis earned seven wins across the 10 #HLBASE contests he started this season.
- The redshirt junior finished top-three in the League in ERA (3.98), strikeouts (53), and opponent batting average (.251) against #HLBASE competition.
- Snow is the second Panther to be named Reliever of the Year since it was first awarded in 2014.
- During #HLBASE play, Snow led the League in saves with five.
- Warren hit .379, totaling 50 hits, 42 runs and 29 RBIs in his first collegiate season.
- Warren gives the Raiders their fifth Freshman of the Year in the last 10 seasons.
- Wright State head coach Alex Sogard wins his third-straight Coach of the Year award after leading the Raiders to 25 League wins, the most since 2014.
- The Sportsmanship Award recognizes student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Sportsmanship is defined as behavior exhibited during competition by student-athletes based on values, respect and integrity.
- The Purdue Fort Wayne coaching staff described Sailors as a “team leader” with a “mature, respectful demeanor” on and off the field.
