CLEVELAND, OHIO (May 7, 2025) – The 2025 #HLSB Championship began on Wednesday with Purdue Fort Wayne and Green Bay opening with victories while IU Indianapolis split a pair of contests.

  • No. 4 seed Purdue Fort Wayne defeated No. 5 seed Northern Kentucky, 3-1, in Wednesday’s first game.
    • Addison Zimpleman doubled in the bottom of the first to drive in Tori Countryman and put the Mastodons up 1-0.
    • The Norse tied the game at 1-1 in the second with an RBI groundout from Mack Brow.
    • Grace Hollopeter put Purdue Fort Wayne back on top in the third with an RBI single and Zimpleman drove in another run in the fifth to lock up the win.
    • Alanah Jones tossed the victory for the ‘Dons in the circle, allowing just one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts.
    • Purdue Fort Wayne will take on top-seeded Cleveland State at noon ET on Thursday, May 8.
  • No. 6 seed Green Bay picked up a 4-2 victory over No. 3 seed IU Indianapolis in game two.
    • Genesis Eggart collected the win in the circle, tossing a complete game with one earned run and four strikeouts.
    • Brooke Schwall drove in the first run of the game for the Phoenix on an RBI double in the third.
    • The Jaguars answered when Kendal Calvert stole home in the bottom frame of the inning.
    • Paige Hanson drove in Jenna Redders in the fifth to put GB up 2-1.
    • Sara Ebner and Hanson tacked on home runs in the next two innings for the Phoenix.
    • Kennedy Cowan hit a home run in the seventh for the Jags.
    • The Phoenix are scheduled to battle No. 2 seed RMU at 2:30 p.m. ET on Thursday.
  • In our first elimination game, IU Indianapolis collected a 6-0 triumph over NKU.
    • Lily Roush tossed a shutout for the Jaguars in the circle, surrendering just two hits.
    • Kendal Calvert had three hits and scored two runs for IU Indy.
    • Callie Dickerson drove in two runs in the first inning.
    • The Jags tacked on four more in the fourth, including two on a double by Morgan Gilbert.
    • IU Indy will face elimination again at 5 p.m. ET on Thursday.
