INDIANAPOLIS (February 3, 2026) – Purdue Fort Wayne’s Sam Dunnett and Ali Sparks, Youngstown State’s McKinley Fielding and Detroit Mercy’s Joey Decasas have all earned this week’s #HLTF honors.
MEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK | SAM DUNNETT | PURDUE FORT WAYNE | GRADUATE | SALE, AUSTRALIA
- Ran a 4:02.23 in the mile at Notre Dame’s Meyo Invitational
- Time is the best in the Horizon League and 16th in the Great Lakes Region
- Finished in fourth at the meet
WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK | MCKINLEY FIELDING | YOUNGSTOWN STATE | JUNIOR | FORT DRUM, N.Y.
- Broke her own school record in the mile, clocking a 4:42.87 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic
- She now leads the Horizon League in the event by 16 seconds
- Placed 13th out of 183 runners in the event
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK | JOEY DECASAS | DETROIT MERCY | FRESHMAN | SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MICH.
- Won long jump at Notre Dame’s Meyo Invitational
- Broke the school long jump record with a leap of 7.58 meters
- Currently sits at the top of the Horizon League and is ranked 25th on the NCAA Qualifying List
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK | ALI SPARKS | PURDUE FORT WAYNE | SENIOR | FORT WAYNE, IND.
- Threw the Horizon League’s best shot put mark of 14.48 meters at the Meyo Invitational
- Also threw the League’s third best weight throw mark at Notre Dame, reaching 17.42 meters
- Came in sixth in the shot put and eighth in the weight throw at the meet
