Youngstown State’s Gebhardt and RMU’s Poulich Selected as Spring Scholar-Athletes of the Season June 17 Rachel White INDIANAPOLIS (June 17, 2026) – Youngstown State baseball senior Braden Gebhardt and RMU softball redshirt senior Courtney Poulich have been selected as our Horizon League Spring Scholar-Athletes of the Season. Dig Deeper: Gebhardt earned #HLBASE Pitcher of the Year honors this spring, collecting six Pitcher of the Week awards. He graduated this spring with his bachelor’s degree in business administration. Gebhardt is a three-time member of both the Horizon League All-Academic Team and the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. Poulich was named #HLSB Player of the Year this spring and broke Horizon League single-season records in home runs (25) and RBIs (88). She graduated with a perfect GPA in Health Sciences. Poulich is a two-time member of the Horizon League All-Academic Team and has been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team three times. The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes at the conclusion of each of its three athletic seasons as the Scholar-Athlete of the Season. To be eligible for Scholar-Athlete of the Season consideration, a student-athlete must be a member of that sport’s current year all-academic team. Honorees are selected based on a combination of athletic and academic achievement by the League’s faculty athletics representatives.
