Chris (Halstead) Neuman joined the Horizon League in September 2009 and has played an integral role in advancing the League’s growth, competitive excellence, and success.
As Chief Operating Officer, Chris provides strategic leadership across the League’s competition and championships, sponsorship, community partnerships, and internal operations. In 2025–26, she also served as Interim Commissioner for five months, guiding the League through an important period of leadership transition.
A former softball student-athlete at Valparaiso University, Chris brings a unique perspective shaped by firsthand experience as a collegiate athlete and a strong business acumen. She earned her MBA from the University of Indianapolis and has built her career by steadily taking on greater leadership responsibilities within the Horizon League. She is also a proud alumna of Bloombase’s Advanced Women Leaders experience, reflecting her commitment to continued professional growth and developing as a leader.
Beyond the League, Chris is passionate about strengthening communities, connecting people and creating opportunities for others. She serves on the WISE Indianapolis Board of Directors, the Eagle Creek Little League Board of Directors, is a PTO president, and coaches youth sports. Through these roles, she continues to invest in the next generation of leaders and athletes while amplifying the voices and leadership of women in college athletics. Chris and her family live in Indianapolis.
