2018 #HLWSOC Championship Central
The 2018 #HLWSOC championship was hosted in Milwaukee for the fourth consecutive season and for the 11th time in program history after the Panthers finished the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record to claim the regular season title.

The championship started on campus with quarterfinal action as No. 3 Northern Kentucky hosted No. 6 Oakland and No. 4 Wright State welcomed No. 5 Detroit Mercy.

The underdogs prevailed that day starting with the Titans scoring a pair of goals just two minutes apart in the second half to take the 2-0 victory.

Oakland followed suit with a come-from-behind victory against NKU as they also scored two second half goals to advance to the semifinals in Milwaukee.

With the championship shifting to Milwaukee for the semifinals, the top seeds, Milwaukee and Cleveland State, prevailed in a pair of exciting matches.

The Vikings advanced to their first-ever #HLWSOC championship match after scoring two goals in the first half and then holding off Detroit Mercy’s second-half pressure for the 2-1 win.

Milwaukee advanced to the championship match on their home field but they needed penalty kicks to do it as Oakland pushed them to the limit.

The championship match was a defensive battle but Milwaukee claimed the victory and its first tournament title since 2013 as the Defensive Player of the Year Kelli Swenson provided the match’s only goal off a free kick.

It marked the 11th tournament championship for Milwaukee and the eighth time since 2008 that the Panthers earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
